Welcome to Coats for Goats and Lambs Too
Come on in and stay awhile and see what I have to offer. Coats for Goats and Lambs Too is located in the Piney woods of North East Texas. I will be at Harrison County Farm City Week, Gregg County Harvest Festival and Upshur County Yamboree with my coats/blankets and accessories.
I started this endeavor with the idea of offering quality blankets or as I call them, coats, for goats and sheep/lambs. I searched the internet for material that would hold up with many washings and the wear and tear of the animals that wear them. The fabric I use for the goat/sheep/lamb blankets is Cordura and the Cordura blankets come in two weights, a heavier weight for the cooler weather and a lighter weight for the warmer weather. Cordura is rain repellent and I feel this works well with keeping the animal dryer in rainy weather. I also offer the blankets/coats in an even lighter weight fabric called Duck. Duck fabric is 100% cotton and not what I would call rain repellent.
So you would like to have your name on the blanket or your favorite jacket, well I can do that too. I have a commercial 12 needle embroidery machine and can offer up to a 12” x 18” size embroidery design. Check out my embroidery page for a sample of my work.
When I travel to county livestock shows with my son and grandson who raise and show goats (www.KLDBoers.com) and show lambs, I have seen them use goat and lamb muzzles on the animals prior to showing. I also will have those. Some muzzles will have the same blanket matching Cordura and some will be plain mesh muzzles.
I also offer splint/rundown boots for the competition horses. I used my splint/rundown boots on my personal barrel horses for protection. The heavier Cordura fabric and several layers of felt along with a leather splint protector is what I use in the making of these splint/rundown boots. They wash extremely well and can be put in the dryer if necessary. Four (4) 2” strips of heavy duty Velcro with heavy elastic hold these in place. After miles of use, the only thing I have ever had to replace is the elastic.
Do you need a place to keep those expensive clipper blades, to keep them clean and secure. I may have just the thing for that. I have clipper blade pouches in 8,6 or 4 pocket pouches. The pockets measure appx. 4" x 3" and the pouch folds up and is secured by two snaps. This keeps the clipper blades secure and dry and ready for use. Just clean and store.
In time, I will have custom made hay bags with a one of a kind patch work Cordura back and a mesh front. No two will be alike or I can make them to match your goat/lamb blankets.
Check back with me often and see what new items I will add to my site.
I will offer special prices on blankets etc, if ordered thru the FFA or 4H. Contact me with your special needs.
COATS FOR GOATS WILL BE IN LONGVIEW FOR THE GREGG COUNTY HARVEST FESTIVAL, October 25th and 26th. A 10% discount will be given with the purchase of any blanket to all FFA and 4H members who are showing a lamb or goat. Just look me up. I'll have my name on my back.
